Type: Individual / Pair (Witnessed) / Group
Duration: 5–10 minutes per iteration
Posture: Kneeling or seated
Outcome: Recalibration of bodily self-model through rhythmic opening and closing; reduced effortful agency.
START
│
▼
[Assume a resting posture]
│
│ Kneel on the floor if possible
│ Or sit upright on a chair
│
▼
[Close the eyes]
│
│ No visual orientation required
▼
[Enter the enfolded position]
│
│ Head gently lowered
│ Arms drawn in
│ Body curled
▼
[Begin rhythmic movement]
│
│ Slowly:
│ • Lift the head
│ • Extend the arms
│ • Open the chest
│
│ Pause briefly in openness
│
│ Then:
│ • Return slowly to the enfolded position
▼
[Repeat cycle]
│
│ Open → Pause → Close
│ Breathing naturally
│
│ No imposed tempo
▼
{Check}
├─ Is the movement being controlled or performed?
│ │
│ ├─ YES → Reduce effort → Return to [Repeat cycle]
│ └─ NO → continue
▼
[Relax into remembering]
│
│ Allow the movement to feel familiar
│ As if recalled rather than invented
▼
[Continue for 5–10 minutes]
│
▼
[Allow movement to come to rest]
│
│ Eyes may remain closed
│ No immediate reflection
▼
END
Pair / Group Extension (Witnessed Form)
START
│
▼
[Form pairs]
│
│ One participant = Protagonist
│ One participant = Witness
▼
[Witness instruction]
│
│ Remain silent
│ Attend without analysis
│ Do not guide or correct
▼
[Protagonist performs algorithm]
│
│ As per individual version
│ For 5–10 minutes
▼
[Completion]
│
│ Both remain still briefly
▼
[Reflection exchange]
│
│ Witness shares:
│ • What they noticed
│ • What surprised or moved them
│
│ Protagonist shares:
│ • What was noticed internally
│ • Any shifts in effort or orientation
▼
[Swap roles]
│
▼
END
Notes for the Reader / Facilitator
- This algorithm does not aim to recreate biological development.
- The embryological narrative functions as an orientation, not a belief.
- The effectiveness lies in rhythmic inference:
opening and closing without goal, optimisation, or achievement.
The movement works because it:
- Reduces deliberate control
- Replaces agency with repetition
- Allows action to occur without ownership
Marginal Annotation
The system does not learn something new.
It remembers a simpler organisation of action—one that precedes effort, strategy, and identity.
Context-Oriented Arts Note
- The witness provides context without intervention.
- Attention is distributed, not collapsed into a performer.
- The movement becomes an event in a field, not an act owned by a self.
Entropy Footnote
Opening and closing mirror the basic rhythm of life maintaining itself in an entropic world.
The movement does not resist entropy; it synchronises with it—reducing internal complexity by returning to a minimal, repeatable pattern.
